Great camping experience! It's a very nice park. You really connect with nature. It was easy to do a reservation, and the park staff is very friendly. There are cabins for rent, and even spots where you can have electricity. It's $20 for a standard space at a campground if you have a tent plus $5 reservation fee. In my opinion it's totally worth it. There are restrooms and showers available as well in every campground.
BEAUTIFUL!!!! There isn't much more to say about the place. Fossil beach is a must see! Kids were fighting shark teeth left and right! We took our dog as well and it was very dog friendly! Lots of trails to explore and a visitors center. Cost 5 dollars to get in and it is well worth it!
We go to Westmoreland at least five or six times per year and always enjoy ourselves.
Always a great time at this park. I've been going here since I was a child. During the cooler months, there are plenty of trails to enjoy, and in the summer, there's a large swimming pool -- complete with a diving board! The camp sites are well designed, and the staff have always been friendly.
Love this place! Short, but good, nice hike to get to “Fossil Beach.” The beach is very pretty with cliffs on both sides. Anytime that we have gone, there have only been two or three other people there. It’s a great place to take the dogs, as long as they stay on leash. We have seen Bald Eagles, which was great and just the other day there were a bunch of small lobsters (I think) which was really interesting. I have had a lot of luck finding some pretty good sharks teeth as well!
Westmoreland State Park at 145 Cliff Road in Montross, VA is an outstanding park. Clean. Friendly staff. Neat "Fossil Beach" where you can go to find a few sharks teeth, and an excellent five mile walking path.
